Help emerging artists strengthen their craft, discover creative careers, and see what is possible through the guidance of an experienced professional.

Share Your Creative Experience

I.M. Terrell students benefit from artists, performers, designers, technicians, educators, and other creative professionals willing to share their knowledge and experience. You do not need to be famous or have a traditional arts career to make a difference—your craft, perspective, and professional journey can help a young artist grow.

Depending on your background and availability, you might:

• Lead a workshop, demonstration, or master class

• Provide feedback on performances, portfolios, or original work

• Help students prepare for auditions, exhibitions, and competitions

• Introduce students to creative careers and training opportunities

• Share insight into the professional and business sides of the arts

• Support a production, performance, recording, or collaborative project

Areas of Interest

We welcome mentors with experience in areas such as:

• Dance and choreography

• Theatre, acting, directing, and playwriting

• Vocal and instrumental music

• Composition, arranging, and music production

• Painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, and photography

• Graphic design, animation, filmmaking, and digital media

• Costume, lighting, sound, scenic, and technical production

• Arts administration, marketing, entrepreneurship, and portfolio development

A Flexible Commitment

Mentoring can be ongoing or centered around a single experience. Some volunteers work with students throughout the school year, while others participate in a workshop, critique, career conversation, rehearsal, or production. We will work to connect your expertise and availability with an appropriate student need.

All mentoring activities are coordinated with school staff, and district volunteer requirements may apply.

Help Young Artists Find Their Voice

A mentor provides more than instruction. By sharing your creative process—including the discipline, experimentation, setbacks, and persistence behind your work—you can help students build confidence, develop their individual voices, and imagine a future in the arts.
